I’ve been climbing around on the island and so i have some advices.

Kastri: some lower off need substitution possibly with a chain

Sikati cave:I would really suggest a rebolting with chemical fix. in particular Mort aux chevres te lower off; Morgan the last three bolt are dangerous (one is missing), Les Arts du vide, some bolts are fully rusted.

Ocean dream, nemo: all the holes are full of flowers, take care also becouse the bolting is quite demanding

not to seem only critical other sectors i visited are perfects: galatiani, olympic wall, jurassic park, arhi, gosth kitchen, …

Thank you Marco for the very helpful suggestions. I will try to correct some of these individual issues in the next few months. Sikati cave indeed needs a more complete maintenance for almost all routes. So I will aim to have it included in the next official maintenance. Cheers, Aris

Hi Aris and Marco,

What is the exact problem in Sikati Cave, Morgan?

In 12 days I am back on kalymnos and Morgan was one of my planned routes.

If I remember well the 5th hanger was already missing last year, but that was not a big problem. I used the next one.

I bring some spare hangers to replace the missing one.

Hi guys, peta and i have done a temporary fix on the anchor at kastelli that was hanging off one bolt. We now have new anchors that we plan to install on both routes at kastelli in the next week.

We have a hanger and nut that we will install on Morgan in the next week. We have been on it recently so we know the story.

We are also looking at inspecting and possibly re-installing an anchor at summertime we have been told is badly worn.

Will post when we have fixed.

Thank you for all the good routes you have bolted on Kalymnos, I really enjoy the climbing on the island!

I climbed DNA some weeks ago and the bolts on the upper part of the route was rusty. Maybe it is time to rebolt the route? Could you have a look at the bolts?

Is it possible to have a extra bolt between the last bolt and the anchor at Afrodite (grande grotta). If climbers are pumped and fall close to the anchor it will be possible to hit the ground…

Ghost Kitchen, axium: Is it possible to do something with the placements of the two last bolts before the anchor? It seems like it could be a problem if a climber fall while clipping the last bolt because of the big tufa close to the second last bolt…. Is it possible that the tufa can break?

The two anchors at Kastri are now replaced. We tried to put a hanger on Morgan at sikati yesterday, but the thread is oversized and was too big for the hanger and nut that we had. The thread of the bolt that is missing rotates easily in the hole and you can move it in and out by about 1cm, so not sure if sticking a hanger back on the thread will solve the problem there.
