    Hey Aris (or others)!

I bought the guide book 2015 pratically out of your hand and now there is already a new edition? Are there so many mistakes in mine (2015) or are there so many new sectors?? Unforunately you don’t write anything about that on the guide book page… :(

    Thanks, Martin

    Hi Martin

It is not a new guidebook this year, but it is a reprint of the 2015 edition with 10 pages added. The 2015 edition sold out sooner than we thought (did not print so many copies) so we had to reprint it. In the reprint, we correct the mistakes and add only 10 new pages (Arginonta Valley and Black Buddha), which we also make available here on climbkalymnos.com so you can download the routes. Also we are waiting for our partners at Vertical Life to update the app with that info.

I hope this answers your question,

    Cheers,

    Aris

Well, this is news, Aris. Now that the new sectors in the Arginonta Valley have been added to the guidebook does that mean that the access problems have been resolved?

Hi Aris, I just read the Kalymnos Scooter Rental reply to Mike’s question regarding the access to the new sectors in the Arginonta Valley. It sounds like access is open and climbing is allowed. What is the access now? I recall that the original access point was discouraged in favor of a hole in the fence further up the road. Is this still the way to go?

We are returning to Kalymnos for our fifth (my sixth) visit and are really looking forward to these new routes.

I haven’t checked the climbgreece site yet but am wondering if an updated Greece guidebook is coming in the near future. In one of my posts I mentioned the extensive climbing we discovered on the island of Santorini that I hope you include in a new guidebook. Also, on the Terrain map for Naxos, we saw that there is a large climbing sector. We had no other information on this and never made it over to check it out.

    Thanks.

How come my postings on climbgreece.com regarding access to the crag Anatoli in Nafplio and the sectors on Santorini have been deleted?

    Hi again Steve and Sonya,

Arginonta Valley: The access has been sorted between the municipality and the shepherd claiming the land, BUT a proper gate has yet to be installed. It is long overdue but hopefully it will be installed any day now. So until then, the hole in the fence is still the way to approach the crag.

Greece guidebook: Yes, there will be an updated edition this winter (ETA around late November/early December 2016). We are currently working on it. However, Santorini will not be in this edition either (sorry). That said, the climbing info on Santorini can be accessed online here (it is in Greek, but you will have no trouble figuring out the photo-topos, grades and lengths): http://www.vrahomania.gr/σαντορίνη/

Naxos: There is only bouldering that we are aware of, but no bolted routes. I don’t think there is any info online, but I will look into it and let you know if I find anything.

Climbgreece.com posts: We have not deleted anything; we will only ever delete a post if it is offensive. I believe you are referring to the posts below?

I think I answered all your questions. If not, let me know!

    Best,

    Katie (on behalf of Aris)

Thank you Katie, for your reply to all of my questions. You were correct. The postings are still there. Somehow I missed them when I checked. I’m sorry to have put you through the trouble. Too bad Santorini will not be in your guide. The climbing is quite extensive. There are at least four sectors of bolted routes and perhaps one more that I only heard about but never visited. I could provide you with more details if you should need them. I have photos too. I look forward to the new guides to Greece and to Kalymnos. We will be in Kalymnos later this month.
