Arginonta – Infra-red Wall – DANGER

The left-hand side of Infra-Red Wall is currently dangerous, following the storms earlier this week.

1) A very large rock fall has taken place just left of No Mercy and Pornokini. This may have been the result of the very heavy rain or possibly a lightning strike. There are STILL large blocks on the rock face which are probably unstable. The route, No Mercy, may or may not be affected. Extreme caution is needed in this area. DO NOT leave your sacks or stand under this area.

2) It is reported that a lower-off here has been badly damaged,. Apparently, one of the lower-off’s bolts has come off and is hanging loose with a block attached. This may be at the top of the route, Cosmos. Treat this area with care also.

Does somebody know the current situation on infra-red wall? When I look in the routes section it seems to be fixed? Anybody?

We go to Kalymnos in May and this route was always one of my challenges

Hi Torch,

At the moment these routes are still off-limits. Dislodging the loose blocks and cleaning up is a multi-climber effort. It is likely to be done next month, so don’t despair – by May you should be able to take up the challenge. We will update here when routes at Infrared are fit to be climbed again.
