Debit cards/ATMS

Hey everyone,

My friends and I were wondering whether the ATMs require your card to have a chip or if just the magnetic strip will work. We leave in a week and would appreciate anyone’s knowledge on the subject. We don’t want to be stranded without any Euros!

Hi all,

Over the past weeks, I have been hearing rumours that it is getting harder to pay by card as the trust in banks amongs the Greeks is diminishing. This has been leading to a larger reliance on cash and occassionally empty ATMS. Is this also true for Kalymnos and would it be advisable to bring cash instead of plastic?

Hello friend,dont worry at all.Those are all just rumors without having any real base… Greek banks belong to EU, so not really any reason to worry about… Kalymnos and Greece generally, is and will be as it always was…No need to worry at all… Also if sometimes the ATM in the center of masouri is empty is only because most of the tourists go there,so if this one is empty just go to the one that is on Panormos square(Elies).
