    Good evening,

I read the ferry timetable you give on your website, saying that there a many ferries each day till october 31th. But consulting websites like directferries.fr or aferry.fr, there is only 1 boat / day with Dodekanisos seaways from Kos -> Kalymnos (and 3/week by Blue Star ferries) et less from Kalymnos -> Kos. So which is the right information ?

    Thanks for your answer

    Barbara

    Hi Barbara,

The timetable on our website is for the small LOCAL ferry companies connecting KOS and KALYMNOS ONLY. Their schedules are not on the websites you visited, because these only feature the large ferry companies connecting many islands to larger ports, like Piraeus or Rhodes. They cannot possibly feature all the local connections between smaller islands. So, the ferry timetables on the websites you saw are in fact correct, but they are not the only ones available. They are just on larger ferries.

Also, keep in mind that the larger ferries, like Dodekanisos Seaways and Blue Star, depart from the main port of Kos Town, whereas the local ferries depart from Mastichari, a smaller port. Mastichari is much closer to the Kos airport and much closer to Kalymnos.

The timetables on our site are also correct as far as we know; we get them directly from the local ferry (although sometimes they make changes that we’re not always notified about).

I haver another question : can we buy tickets for the local ferry in advance ? Or only when we arrive in Kos ?

If we can only buy tickets when arriving at Kos, will we be sure there will be place on the next boat (we plan to come at the end of october) ?

    Thank you

    Hi Barbara,

I don’t think you can buy tickets in advance. Ferry seats are first come, first served. If there’s no room on the ferry (unusual but not impossible) you’ll have to wait a couple hours for the next one. Here are the emails of both ferry companies, if you’d like to ask about purchasing tickets in advance:
