Kos – Kalymnos winter 2012 timetable

This is the recent winter timetable (until the end of March 2012?) for the speed boats Kalymnos Star and Kalymnos Dolphin:

From Mastichari:

08:10, 13:45, 16:30, 20:30

From Kalymnos:

07:30, 12:45, 14:45 , 18:00

Note: The last boat from Mastichari waits for the passengers of the last flight to the airport of Kos and the passengers of the Blue Star ferries.

Hi Aris,

We are coming in April but arriving quite late (9pm) at Kos airport. Do you know how often the ferry timetables are changing and if the timetable you have posted above is likely to be different to the one in April?

thank you very much for being so kind about the guidebook. The truth is that all the team, we worked hard and added our passion on this matter.

About the Mastichari (Kos) – Kalymnos Winter Timetable: the above is the recent winter timetable until the end of March (I think)for the speed boats Kalymnos Star and Kalymnos Dolphin. Some time during April there will be an issue of the Spring Timetable with one more ferry later, maybe around 21.30-22.00. Because a lot of people arrive with the late flights to Kos they usually have a late boat to collect all those passengers. From what I know there is no particular date when they issue the timetables for the following month, I am afraid you just need to keep checking.

The site http://www.openseas.gr is usually reliable (enter From: ‘Kos – Mastichari’ To: ‘Kalymnos’ in the respective fields). I also strongly suggest you to call the Port Authority of Kos before you travel on the number +30 22420 2659. There is an automated menu with timetable message in English.

Hi All,

There are still no ferry timetables showing up online for April. Traveliing from Kos Mastichari to Kalymnos on 7th April.

I have also tried calling the port authority but says the number is temporary unavailable. If anyone has any timetable information please can you post it here.

Hi,

I spent quite some time on the phone yesterday trying to get to the bottom of the ferry issue (port authorities, travel agents, you name it). Here’s the verdict:

– The full timetable for April will ‘officially’ be available between March 25th-April 1st.

– The person I spoke to at the company operating the ‘slow’ ferry did, however, say that the timetable won’t change much in April (if anything, the crossings increase during the warmer months). He also said “here’s what the schedule will most likely be” (off the record, of course). I’ve posted it below.

– Regarding the last ferry of the day, he said there is always a ferry around nine pm to collect people arriving on the last flights from Athens.

– I wasn’t able to get times for the fast ferry yet, BUT you can expect them to be almost identical to those in March. I was told to call back after March 25th (sigh).

We will make this a permanent feature on climb Kalymnos, as the #!*%^$# timetable is quite the elusive creature. I hope it helps!
