Tutta – You have email. Very keen to know what has happened to your shoes, and what I didn’t do….
I’d also like to refund your money.
Kalymnos Resoles began working in July. Always with something new there will be teething problems, the odd unhappy customer and a little jealousy if there’s even a hint of success.
At the start, with customers permission, we tried a ‘fast’ glue. This was not great and 3 pairs were returned and fixed, free of charge of course.
They rightly came to me first rather than posting on a public forum.
Since then we have continued to improve the service, develop techniques and try to provide the best service possible for climbers visiting the island for only one or two weeks. As such we have a limited time to resole the shoes and get them back to their owner.
This is obvious, and not a ploy to avoid negative feedback!
Any feedback is very welcome, in fact necessary to work out what works and what doesn’t.
Always we stress that the glue needs settling time and to ‘rest’ for at least 24 hours, and always, with every single customer, we ask them to return if there are any problems at all. Nobody has paid full price either during these early days, every resole is discounted while we develop the business.
On a positive note, most of the feedback we have received has been good as the facebook page can show, and as with any craft like resoling, we will continue to strive for improvement in our skills and the tools we use wherever possible.
It has been an absolute pleasure meeting so many climbers from around the world and being able to breath new life into old and near dead shoes. Nothing makes me happier than to hear someone say that their shoes worked well and feel good. Indeed, that’s all I want.
One other pleasing side affect – several climbers have either hired shoes, or bought new ones from ‘Wild Sports’ or ‘KAC’ while their shoes have been in for a resole. I had hoped this would happen and I’m very pleased that so many climbers have spent cash in the local climbing stores.
Finally, a big thank you to all those who have entrusted us with their old, smelly, broken shoes.
Happy climbing everyone.
