We have just returned home after a great two weeks of climbing.

We used both the Rockfax and the new Kalymnos Climbing Guide. For me, the new KCG was much better. Thankyou to Aris and team for all your efforts and for producing yet another excellent version of the KCG.

Thank you for being so kind Chrish, your support it is much appreciated.

Just note that the other “guidebook” copy pasted most of our work in 2016 guidebook.

We have more than 15 errors from our guidebook that absolutely copied from them.

We will publish some examples soon, to inform the climbing community.

Unfortunately, also all the relative pirate Kalymnos apps, do the same….

Hello Aris, When I was at Kalymnos last fall I found that many of the route names had been changed on the rock from my 2015 guidebook (yours). I was told that this was due to the encroachment of the Rockfax guide. Has this situation been resolved? Does your new guide contain the new names or the old? Have the old names been reinstated? Will there be even further route name changes? After my last visit I said that I would never return to this beautiful paradise. However, I have booked to return for my 8th visit next October. The changes to the climbs and to the island were discouraging. A guidebook war makes this even more so.

My apologies, Aris. I have just received your latest, 2019, guide to Kalymnos in preparation for my next visit. It arrived in five days. Remarkable! I have spent days transferring my notes from my most recent guidebook – the 2015 edition. I am almost done with notating 485 different routes and have not uncovered a single route name change. It remains to be seen if the names printed on the rock match the names in the book. I am hoping that is the case. Have the new names been erased and replaced with the former names? The many new sectors and routes have me wishing away the summer in anticipation.

I am back and I have just been to Black Buddha. The first thing I noticed (besides the huge crowd) was that all the route names had been eliminated except for five in the middle of the upper tier. From left to right they were Buddha, Dharma, Troulala, Karma and Tara. Since every other route was occupied I got on Tara, a 6a. Halfway up the route I recognized the corner from Goussinair, 6b. So that was my warmup. This made Karma really Tara and so forth. The names had been scrambled as has been done at other sectors such as Trois Ilots and Couer d’Armeos and who knows where else. This has to stop, Aris. Some other means of dealing with RockFax has to be found before someone gets seriously hurt. I for one, cannot keep buying your latest guidebook just to keep up with the name changes. This is a very selfish and inhumane course to be following. It can only lead to the demise of interest in coming to Kalymnos if not tragedy. Don’t kill the goose!

No names had been scrambled at Black Buddha, or even at any other crags, that have been published from us, or the equippers.

Route names at Black Buddha, just disappeared because it was written with a paint marker and the rainwater washed them off.

This it is something common at many crags at Kalymnos, and when we visit a crag, together with some volunteers we regularly rewrite the fainted names.

However, even without the name written at the bottom, if you check the photo topo in our guidebook it is easy to recognize each one route.
