Crag: South Face
prometheus
Grade: 6c
Length: 200m
Description: Multi-pitch, 8 pitches; 6a obligatory (P1 6c 35m, P2 6a+ 35m, P3 6a+ 35m, P4 6b+ 25m, P5 5b 20m, P6 6a 20m, P7 4c 15m, P8 5c 15m). This route climbs the prominent pillar of clean limestone midway between Telendos village and the entry to sector Inspiration. It is well-bolted with titanium bolts and anchors throughout. P1: The crux and a “beauty,” too. P2: The wall of “It’s all Greek to Me.” P3: The “White Shield” has lots of fun bridging. P4: “Put a Zeus In It” is a sea of funky chickenheads. P5: An easy pitch. P6: “Lightning Bolt” delivers as expected. P7: Arriving near the top at the shady bower amid the spacious comforts of the “Grand Goat Hotel” terrace, relax and sip some water. P8: A final short pitch. Gear: 70m rope + 15 QDs. Return: The route is equipped for abseiling, with two extra rappel anchor points and the standard anchors of the route. However, abseiling down the route can be dangerous if another party is following (rockfall) and rope management is not easy due to sharp rock and bushes. Walking down via the chapel of St Constantine is strongly recommended.
